Analogue Photography

Back in high school, I got it in my head that I wanted a new camera.  Not just any camera, of course.  I wanted a DSLR.  Of course, being a high school student, I was not exactly rolling in the dough, and because my point and shoot (the one I still have in fact, a 6 MP Casio Exilim EX - Z60) worked just fine, I decided to wait.  Maybe in college.

College came around, and my little point-and-shoot that could came with me, with my dreams of a DSLR slowly fading.  Then I took a look at our library computers, which had Photoshop.  Looking through some tutorials online, I discovered something brilliant - the Holga.  You could get that rich feel and warmth with film instead of Photoshop.

So, I broke down one day and purchased my first film camera - a Holga 135 BC.  Since then, I haven't looked back once.  My ever-growing list of cameras includes:

  • Holga 135BC
  • Ansco Shur Shot
  • Canon AE-1
  • DIY cardboard pinhole camera
  • Kodak Pony Model C
  • Spartus 35
  • Diana F
  • Diana F+
  • Kodak Signet 40
  • Lubitel 2
  • Kodak Junior Six-20 Series III
  • My 8mm movie camera, Cinemax 8EE
Of course, some are display only, but I love them all.
